Last week saw the arrival of our Porto Heli Team, here we share our top 5 things to plan when you visit.
Everyone knows Coffee plays a big part in Greek culture, taking the time to sit and enjoy a Freddo Espresso, people watching and whiling away the hours is an art everyone could benefit from learning.
In Porto Heli there are many coffee shops to choose from such as Drougas, Coffee O’Clock, Old Cafe and Coffee to Go. Singling out Old Cafe thanks to it's views of the harbour. The baristas are very friendly and the coffee is reasonably priced.
Of all the many Taverna's in Porto Heli a favourite place to eat in is Ostria’s, this beautiful taverna is positioned on the furthest end of the harbour underneath the picturesque white chapel. The Menu has lots to offer including fresh seafood and traditional greek foods.
Porto Heli accommodates those that enjoy the bar scene and great music. A couple of places to visit for both of these are Soundtrack which is positioned near the end of the road of the harbour and plays great soul, r&b, funk & reggae music, serving the best cocktails in town. Another is Sokaki which is positioned a little further on from Soundtrack, it is smaller but more lively.
Places to visit
Porto Heli is well located and has great ferry access links to the many Greek Islands surrounding for further exploration. As well as Porto Heli, the nearby town of Kosta is well worth a visit and not forgetting Spetses, very traditional and always busy with many bars and restaurants.
The terrain around Porto Heli makes for exciting Mountain Biking, there are lots of secluded beaches to explore and hills to climb. For those that seek more extreme sports a visit to the Ververoda Lake Water Ski centre should be included in your plans. It is located just behind the harbour in a sheltered lagoon making it the perfect spot for Wakeboarding or water skiing which is very fun.
Immerse yourself in the Greek culture during your time in Porto Heli and you will have an experience to remember.
