As we have almost reached the end of July things have just got busier and busier at our beach. There is nothing better than looking out to the water and seeing a variety of activities on the go. The town itself seems to have exploded with people, bringing a great atmosphere and some nice hustle and bustle. This is definitely keeping the Horizon Watersports beach staff on their toes!
At the moment one of our most popular activities is definitely stand up paddleboarding. It’s a great way to get out on the water whatever your age or experience level and, crucially, provides those all important holiday picture moments. We have had a huge range of ages take out our SUPs so far this season. The Horizon team love a good morning SUP themselves so keep an eye out for us in Nidri Bay. There is nothing better than watching an instructor fall in! There have also been several beginner windsurfing and dinghy sailing lessons out on the water, all lead by our fully qualified RYA instructors of course. It’s a pleasure to have people begin their progression into watersports with us.
The Horizon Watersports team themselves have been very busy as we have entered peak season. If they are not out on the water teaching they are making sure all the equipment is in top condition and keeping our beach looking great. Not only that, but the beach team are also bringing together some impressive charity event ideas such as our ‘SUP to Corfu’ challenge. They also head out on regular flyering trips through town, so if you spot our purple t-shirts please come and say hello! We currently have the lovely Seb and Theo with us doing work experience as well. They are both doing great work and are sure to be instructors of the future.
All of this hard work and time out on the water is made ever more bearable by our gorgeous weather conditions. What better way to beat the afternoon heat than by grabbing a kayak and heading out across the bay, stopping for a swim along the way. There is something so enjoyable about being able to sail along care free without a wetsuit, which we don’t often get the chance to do back in the UK. This has been matched recently by our wind conditions which have been perfect for beginner windsurfers and sailors as well as some great afternoons where it has picked up for those with a little more experience.
It is set to be a great summer on our beach and we would love you to stop by!
