About Lefkas Island
Lefkas lies between Corfu and Kefalonia, about half way up Greece's Western coast. The island (with a population of just 23,000) is nestled among a smattering of small Ionian islands, surrounded by warm blue waters and a rich variety of landscapes and coastlines that can be driven around in a day. A day spent exploring the island is a great holiday activity.
Lefkas has a rich history of arts and culture, with a unique ambiance for visitors - those that know Lefkas tend to keep it to themselves! That's why, while it ticks all the boxes for a perfect holiday retreat, Lefkas has managed to avoid the hurly-burly of its many sister islands. This creates a wonderful balance of bustling streets in the island's main town (Lefkada), rugged mountains, hidden valleys, and quiet beaches scattered around many miles of coastline.
Alongside the sleepy fishing villages, you'll find some stunning beaches: Porto Katsiki and Egremni have won awards for being amongst Europe's best beaches. Venture out and you'll find centuries-old monasteries and churches, interesting museums, and quaint villages. Our top tip for a real holiday treat is to drive a hire car to the highest point on the island, where you'll see the White Chapel - a tiny church perched up in the occasional clouds offering breathtaking views!
Lefkas is the island that really does offer something for everyone. Come and visit Lefkas, enjoy your stay, and discover the magical charm that draws people back year after year.
Our initial centre is located in picturesque Nidri, on the beautiful Lefkas island on the Western Greek coast. Lots of wind and plenty of sunshine, combined with the flat waters of a crystal blue ocean, make for perfect watersport conditions. Start your day with an early morning, flat-calm paddle board session, or embark on a kayak trip to explore the attractive coastline.

For those looking for a little more action, our bay is the perfect location for some dinghy sailing or windsurf fun. A gently-sloping beach makes it safe and easy for beginners to get out and give it a go. For the more advanced sailors, the bay provides a large sailing area to enjoy the stronger winds further out. Our instructors look after all ability levels, ensuring that whatever your watersport, you can hone your skills to RYA standards - and have loads of fun at the same time!
Nidri offers lots of other activities too: cycling and mountain biking; walking; archery; waterskiing and wakeboarding; scuba diving; horse riding; yacht charter; boat cruises and paragliding. Guided bike rides are a fantastic way of seeing the beautiful scenery and we highly recommend Get Active Lefkas for all your biking needs: www.getactivelefkas.com.
If you're after relaxation, Nidri and the surrounding area has much for your discovery - monasteries, churches, museums, souvenir shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, secluded beaches and historic villages can be found all over Lefkas.
There are plenty of boat trips that run daily from Nidri Port. Our favourite by far is the MS Christina, that provides an unforgettable day cruising around the local islands, with lunch, drinks and snorkelling equipment all included: www.the-mschristina.com.
We must also mention Nidri waterfalls, one of the island's favourite attractions, and an outstanding example of natural beauty. A short walk along a gentle uphill path takes you to amazing plunge pools at the foot of the main falls - remember to take your camera! You can finish your walk with a picnic at the nearby bar next to the car park.
